“…A bird stops in its flight and balances on motionless wings (…) a cloud stops in its endless journey, and both cannot get enough of this earthly wonder…”
This is what Stefan Zeromski wrote about this Kashubian nook having fallen in love with the size and beauty of Lake Żarnowieckie. Although the poetic image was created nearly 100 years ago it still gives off most accurately the wonder one feels upon seeing the area over which our commune stretches. From a bird's eye view one can see a mossaic of fields, pastures, meadows and forests, the open space of the wide Reda Valley, hills chipped by gorges and ravines, narrow ribbons of rivers and streams, the still surfaces of lakes which fill deep postglacial troughts separating the highland with its steep hillsides.
Today this unique, natural landscape is highlighted by the tall masts of electrical windmills. Together with many other
proecological schemes they are a part of the project which aims at a friendly to the environment economic and civilization development of our region which began in the 80s with the building of the Żarnowiec nuclear power plant.
The idea of eco development which came into being out of the necessity of preserving the natural world and the cultural value of our land is accompanied by the need to share this richness with others. One can come into close contact with the richness of the natural world along hiking, cycling, horse riding tracks and waterways. One can get away from the clamour of every day and relax in the hospitable agrotouristic lodgings, the privacy of resort hotels or rest actively making use of the various recreation and sport equipment.
